Ruth Marie Phillips' Obituary
Ruth Marie Phillips, 89, of Alliance, died on Wednesday, December 31, 2003, at 2:05 p.m. at her home. Born June 27, 1914, in Rochester Mills, Pa., she was a member of the Montgomery Church of the Brethren since very early in her life, a graduate of the Rairigh School and was employed at the Indiana State Teachers College in Pennsylvania. Moving to Alliance in 1945, she had been employed at Tampers Restaurant, Alliance Brickyard, Husat's Bakery, Mount Union Theater, McDonalds, was a shirt presser at Pete Zantel's Dry Cleaning from 1964 to 1988, worked at the College Campus Center from 1964 till 1987, and retired in 1988. Mrs. Phillips is survived by her children, Delbert Off and Alice Welch, both of Alliance, Janet Walter of Oregon, and Sharon West of Homeworth; 15 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; one great great grandson; close companion, Claude Faust of Clinton, MI; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband George Phillips in 1981; her parents, Jacob Snyder and Margaret Ellen (Wassam) Rodkey; a daughter, Dolores McKenzie; two sons, Gary Phillips and George Phillips, Jr.; four sisters; and five brothers. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday,January 5, 2004, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 6, 2004, at 11 :00 a.m. with Rev. Kevin Simpson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
