Ruth Ann (Ketler) Jones' Obituary
Ruth Ann (Ketler) Jones, 78, of Alliance, known to many as "Gigi", passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 8:55 pm at Altercare of Alliance. She was born on August 18, 1935 in Alliance, Ohio to William Bill T. and Irene G. (Mason) Ketler and lived in Alliance for all of her life. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ruth Ann was a 1954 graduate of Alliance High School where she had been a Cheerleader. She also graduated from the Akron Beauty College. Ruth was the owner & operator of Ruthie's Beauty Shop from 1955 - 2007. She was a member of Women of the Moose, Chapter 421 and had been an Alliance Community Hospital Volunteer. She enjoyed her monthly luncheons with her close friends from Alliance High School; Edna Edwards and Bev Harris. Ruth Ann was also an avid Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan. Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Sheri (Gary) Haynes of North Canton, OH and Theresa DePrill of Salem, OH; son, Jeffrey (Helene Pinault) Jones of Barrie, Ontario, Canada; four grandchildren, Nicholas DePrill, Jacob (Brittnay) DePrill, Kelsey DePrill, & Laura Jones; and served as a grandma to Kisha DePrill, Heather Helphenstine, & Derek DePrill. She is also survived by her devoted companion, Herman Reagan, who has remained by her side for the past thirty years; her two brothers, William Tom (Monica) Ketler of Alliance, OH & Dennis Ray (Donia) Ketler of Alliance, OH; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, William Jones, whom she married on October 1, 1955 and died on August 26, 1989; and her parents. Ruth s family would like to thank the Altercare Staff and Nurses and the Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice for their kindness and dedication in her care and comfort. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Matthew J. Mankowski, of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Union Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
