Ruth A. (Schmitt) Gibson's Obituary
Ruth A. Gibson (nee Schmitt), age 85, died Friday, May 6, 2005, at 4:30 a.m. in Stow, Ohio. After she suffered a massive stroke in October 2003, she was moved to Maison Aine to be closer to two of her children. She married Edwin P. Gibson on January 20, 1941, and they had their 64th wedding anniversary just before his death on January 23, 2005. Mrs. Gibson was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on August 18, 1919, the loving daughter of Louis and Pearl Schmitt (both deceased). She and her husband lived for 60 years in Alliance, Ohio. She was a member of St. Joseph s Catholic Church where she volunteered in a variety of church functions and activities. She is survived by a daughter, Rochelle (Sheridan) Crum of Canton; a son, Edwin C. (Jane) of Hudson; a son, Bruce (Jackie) of Loveland; a son, Adrian of Stow; grandsons, Mark (Tiffany); Eric, (Kelly); Donovan (Kristen); Aaron, and Brad Gibson; two great-grandsons; a great granddaughter; a brother-in-law, Robert (Inge) Gibson of North Canton; a sister-in-law, Hazel Gibson of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial being offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
