Ruth Doris (Meyers) Ellsworth's Obituary
Ruth Doris (Meyers) Ellsworth, 80, of 15115 German Church Rd., Atwater, died on Saturday, December 25, 2004, at 9:20 a.m. at McCrea Manor. She was born in Medina on October 22, 1924 and had been a resident of this area since 1955. Ruth and her husband Rusty owned and operated Oak Grove Golf Coarse for many years and she also managed the Pro Shop. In 1968, they purchased Atwater (Starlite) Roller Rink which she operated until the mid 1990 s. Ruth was very dedicated to family recreation and worked closely with area churches and schools to help children become active in roller skating activities. Mrs. Ellsworth was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1955 and was also a member of the Ohio Roller Skating Operators Association. She is survived by a daughter, Joan Ellsworth of Atwater; a son, James (Connie) Ellsworth; 4 grandchildren, Nathan, Christina (Mike) Breeden, Keith, and Amanda; 2 great grandchildren, Lane and Abigail; a sister, Evelyn Riggs of Medina; a brother, Eugene (June) Meyers of Ft. Myers, Fl.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer J. "Rusty" Ellsworth on October 11, 2002 (they were married on July 24, 1948); her parents, Otto and Hilda Meyers and her step mother, Lila Meyers. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and also on Thursday from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Frank Gross, Jr., of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow at German Church Cemetery in Atwater.
