Ruth Akins' Obituary
Ruth (Brumbaugh) Akins, 89, of Alliance, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 9:25 am at Community Care Center.
Born on January 22, 1927 in Kent, to Jesse and Gladys (Boone) Brumbaugh, she lived in Alliance for most of her life and had retired from Alliance Manufacturing Co.
Ruth enjoyed fishing, crocheting, gardening and taking care of her dogs.
Survivors include her four children, Susan (Timothy) Mergenthaler, Donald Akins, Jr., Debra (James) Bondoni and Kathy Akins, all of Alliance; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Donald Akins, Sr. on November 11, 1981 whom she married on February 2, 1952; her parents; four sisters, Alice, Anne, Hazel, and Evelyn; and a brother, Paul.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 18, 2016 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. Her Funeral Service will begin 11:00 am with Rev. Jonathan Dodson, Alliance Community Hospital Chaplain, officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Park.
