Roy Leland Chapman's Obituary
Roy Leland Chapman, 78, of Atwater, died at his home with his family around him on Wednesday, January 7,2004. He was born in Atwater on January 31, 1925, to Orva Leland and Ruby Lucille (Royer) Chapman and was a lifetime resident of Atwater. Mr. Chapman had lived all his life on the family farm where he was born. He loved tilling the land, repairing tractors, and raising animals. His barn cats received special care. Uncle Roy had a sense of humor that brought joy to our lives. Survivors include two nieces, Suzi Koons of Alliance and Karen Carroll of Marlboro; the widow of his nephew, Violet Koons of Atwater; grandnephews, Maxie Stafford, James Blake, Shilo Koons and Devlin Carroll; grandnieces, Tammi Ingledue and Anjanelle Hennebert; and nine great grand nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Ruth E. (Chapman) Koons; a brother, Earl L. Chapman; a nephew, James O. Koons, Sr.; and a grand nephew, James O. Koons, Jr. Graveside services will be held at Marlboro Cemetery on Saturday, January 10, 2004, at 11 :00 a.m. with Rev. Kenneth Price of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church officiating. There are no calling hours. The Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
