Ronald M. "Ron" Vineyard, Sr.'s Obituary
Ronald M. "Ron" Vineyard, Sr., 64, of Deerfield, died on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 6:30 a.m. at Alliance Community Care Center. Born on October 27, 1944 in Warren, he lived in Beloit for 35 years and Deerfield was his home for the last eight years. A graduate of Southeast High School, Ron was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam, serving from 1963 - 1967. Mr. Vineyard retired from Rural Metro, formerly known as Gold Cross, where he was employed as a paramedic. Ron was a member of the Masonic Temple and the American Legion in Deerfield. Since 1958, he enjoyed collecting stamps. He also loved woodworking and gave all his grandchildren wooden toys that he made. He also raised chickens at his home in Deerfield. He is survived by his wife, Judy (Prevot) Vineyard, whom he married on December 21, 1963; a son, Ronald (Sarah) Vineyard, Jr. of Copley; two daughters, Cheri Steagall of Diamond and Liane (Brandon) Thomas of Alliance; ten grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel and Madeline Vineyard, Steven, Brian and Abigail Steagall and Ayla and Paige Vineyard, Zoie Gilham and Allen Thomas; two sisters-in-law, Osta (Fred) Reagan and Mary Jane (Steve) Perry; a brother-in-law, Herman "Butch" (Mary Beth) Prevot; two sisters, Judy Atkinson of Kent and Marie (Wayne) Lewis of FL; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Holly M. and Caroline D. (Berres) Vineyard; his in-laws, Herman and Catherine "Kitty" Prevot; a sister, Hazel Cook; a brother, Carl Vineyard; a brother-in-law, Don Carver; a niece, Georgina Delmont; and a nephew, Freddy Reagan. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, February 1, 2009 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, February 2, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph A. Peters officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Deerfield American Legion Post 713, will follow at Deerfield Cemetery.
