Two words carved in stone on a kitchen archway of a century home hint of a love story. And the symbols with the inscription suggest the philosophy that carried Ronald J. Van Dress through 98 years of his ordinary yet extraordinary Read Obituary

Mr. Van Dress was a wonderful man that was full of lots of knowledge that I enjoyed talking with. I am glad that I had an opportunity to know him and Mrs Van Dress and the family. I know that you are with your beautiful wife and you are holding hands. You both will always have a special place in my heart. Rest in Peace! Give Mrs Van Dress a hug for me.❤️❤️❤️
Hello Dear Ones, My name is Allan Bartholomew. My wife is Janice, our daughter is Cindy, our son is Barry. Our deepest sympathies to all the Van Dress families and friends on the passing of Ronald. He and Carolyn exemplified the way love and family living should be done. We are all grateful. Going back in time, Janice and I had the good fortune that our son Barry went to Kent State where he met and fell in love with co-ed Victoria (known as Vicky back then!). They later married and blessed us with three wonderful grandkids Simon, Sam, and Ella.
So in preparation for Barry and Victoria's wedding, this is how Janice and I came to know and love Ronald and Carolyn and most of the Van Dress family. And I can assure you it has been a blessing and great fun to be invited to many of the parties and family gatherings. At our Bartholomew family get togethers, Ronald and my Dad, Warren, aka Bart(rip) got along really well. Both served in WW2, Ron as a soldier on the ground, my Dad as a B17 pilot in the air. I remember Dad saying to Ron that when flying on bombing missions over Germany they would look down at the soldiers fighting and say "boy am I glad I'm not down there!" Ronald responded with "that's funny, we would look up seeing all the exploding flack and say "boy am I glad I'm not up there!" We all had the best laugh ever!!! even though war is not really funny, for sure. I do have one regret. Ron had a really nice pool table and asked if I wanted to play. I suspected he was a darn good player so I needed to get some practice in first. Me, being terribly rusty at it, asked for a rain check and problem was we let it go at that. Always wanted to follow up on that but never got around to it. Hopefully, some day in the future we will all meet again and play, play, play! All our love and prayers, Allan, Janice, & family
Debbie, Dan and family we send our deepest sympathy in the loss of your father. What a beautiful life he had. May all your memories provide you comfort during this difficult time.

He sure loved those peppers!
Grandpa Van Dress was so full of love and life. I remember how joyously and effortlessly he danced with me on my wedding day in 2021. I’m so grateful he got to meet his great grandson Vincent Van Dress and that we got a photo of FOUR GENERATIONS of Van Dress men. He’s loved and missed by many.
This was my wedding day. Ronald blessed the meal in Latin.
These pics made me cry.
