Ronald Summers' Obituary
Ronald E. Summers, 78, of Conway, SC, formerly of Alliance, died on Sunday, August 15, 2010, at 3:00 a.m. at his home. He was born on November 18, 1932 in Alliance, and lived in Alliance most of his life. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Summers retired from General Motors in Lordstown, where he was employed as a machine repairman. He was a member of the Dante Alighieri Society, the William Penn Club, the Korean Wars Vets, the American Legion Post 166 and the V.F.W. Post 1036 and the former president of the Beechwood Playground Association. In his past-time, he enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his family. Ron is survived by two daughters, Kellie Norman of Conway, SC and Shellie Summers of Las Vegas, NV; two sons, Ronnie Summers of Surfside Beach, SC and John Summers of Alliance; five grandchildren, Danny Norman, Robert Goodwin, Marissa Summers, Ryan Summers and Tyler Summers; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Sallie (Haldeman) Summers on January 18, 2010, whom he married on May 3, 1952; his parents, Raymond and Gertrude (Obney) Summers; two sisters, Carol Noling and Shirley Givens; and two brothers, Jerry and Earl Summers. The family will receive friends in Conway, SC on Friday, August 20, 2010 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Maranatha Church of God in Alliance, on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
