Ronald Lewis "Ronnie" Porter's Obituary
Ronald Lewis "Ronnie" Porter, 61, of Alliance, completed his journey home after a courageous battle against cancer on Thursday, February 12, 2004, at 5:40 a.m. at his residence. Ronald was born in Alliance on December 2, 1942, and was a graduate of Alliance High School and a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. A retired welder, he had been employed at Alliance Machine Company for 36 years. He enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his wife Patricia, whom he married on October 13, 1967; two sons, David (Jenny Lynn) Porter of Atwater and Michael (Brenda) Porter of Sebring; a daughter, Kimberly (Ray) Gorby of Sebring; three granddaughters, Danielle Nicole, McKenzie Sierra, and Ronnie Haely-Mae; his brother, Clair Porter of Atwater; three sisters, Gloria Snider of Alliance, Evelyn Davis at Atwater, and Nancy Doak of Alliance; along with many other relatives and friends. There will be no calling hours. For those who wish to pay their respects, a Memorial Service will be held at the Union Avenue United Methodist Church on Monday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Gordon Ruggles officiating. Arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral. Flowers may be sent to the church or memorial contributions may be made to the American Brain Tumor Institute or to the American Cancer Society. Always remember: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
