Robert J. "Buck" Stanfield's Obituary
Robert James "Buck" Stanfield, 80, of Alliance, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 8:30 am at Alliance Community Care Center with his wife, Marianne, by his side.
He was born on September 19, 1938 in Alliance, to the late Edward W. and Irene Virginia (Klass) Stanfield.
Mr. Stanfield was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was very active in several parish activities including Eucharistic Ministry and serving during Masses. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #558.
A 1957 graduate of Alliance High School, he served eight years in the U.S. Air Force at Lockbourne Air Force Base in Michigan during the Vietnam War.
After his service in the military, Buck was employed with UPS in management positions throughout Michigan.
Buck was an avid sports fan and had played football during high school and while in the Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Marianne "Marie" (Koons) Stanfield, whom he married on December 31, 1960; a sister, Rochelle "Sue" Williamson; two brothers, Terry (Carolyn) Stanfield and Larry (Lynn) Stanfield; nephews, Jeff Burnip, Matt (Gina) Burnip, Michael (Sheila) Scaia, T.J. Hines and Joel Koons; nieces, Chely Street, Beth (Scott) Riordan and Lauretta Koons; and several other nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Judy and Rosemary; and a nephew, Todd Scaia.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Matthew J. Mankowski, of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Indian School, PO Box 100, Chamberlain, SD 57325-0100.
