Robert James Porter's Obituary
Robert James Porter, 52, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, October 29,2003, at Alliance Community Hospital. Born in Augsburg, Germany, on December 23, 1950, he lived in Alliance most of his life, and was a graduate of Kent State University with an associate degree in Electrical Engineering. A Viet Nam veteran of the US Navy, he had been a millwright at American Steel Foundries and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and playing the guitar. Mr. Porter is survived by three daughters, Brook Porter and Angie Howe, both of Alliance, and Tina Bugara of Florida; three grandchildren, Haley Mobley, Devyn Howe, and Christian Porter; his parents, Frank and Ruth Porter of Alliance; two sisters, Diane (Ron) Frient of Ravenna and Rita (Dale) Timmerman of Alliance; former wife, Dena Porter of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, October 31, 2003, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 1, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at the Alliance City Cemetery.
