Robert A. Lee's Obituary
Robert A. Lee, 74, of Alliance, passed away at home on November 5, 2002, after a valiant fight with lung cancer. He lived in Alliance since 1955. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 4, 1928 to Oscar Frederick Lee and Vema Irene (Swanson) Lee. He is survived by his wife, Jeannie R. (Strieff) Lee, whom he married on September 29, 1951. He is also survived by his daughters, Karen M. Lee of Charlotte, NC, Kristi A. Starnes of Kensington, Ohio and his son, John F. Lee of Parkersburg, WV. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar F. Lee and Verna I. (Swanson) Lee. Robert graduated ftom Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In his senior year, he was named to the All-Southwest Iowa football team and subsequently to the All-Iowa football team. He attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha and graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He obtained his Masters of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Akron. He was also a professional engineer, licensed by the state of Ohio. The priorities in his life were God, family and country. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church since 1955 and taught Sunday school for many years. He made sure that all three of his children were college educated and he took great joy in his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all of them. He served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955 at the repair facility in San Diego, California and then transferred to the inactive Naval reserve at the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was then employed at Babcock and Wilcox Research Center in Alliance, Ohio. He retired as a nuclear engineer after 33 years of service. He was also a part-time teacher at Stark State Technical College and at Alliance High School in the continuing education department. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a life member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a member of Pi Tau Sigma, an honorary Mechanical Engineering Fraternity. Memorial services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Monday, November 11, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Frank Gross, Jr., officiating. There are no calling hours. The Sharer- Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
