Robert L. Hoover's Obituary
Robert L. “Bob” Hoover, 85, of Alliance, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at his home.
Born on September 25, 1937 in Canton, to John C. and June (Carman) Hoover, he lived in Alliance most of his life.
Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maximo where he ushered and served on their Festival and Bingo Committees.
A 1955 graduate of Louisville High School, he served our country in the U.S. Army.
Bob was employed at American Steel Foundry as a Draftsman and Engineer retiring after 24 years of service.
He was a member of Washington - Ruritan Club and a longtime member of a friendship caroling group.
Bob enjoyed sports, gardening, singing, woodworking, playing cards, and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann (Zavarelli) Hoover, whom he married on June 10, 1961; five daughters, Terri (Warren) Schneider, Tracy (Joe) Mendel, Trish Hoover, Trina (Tim) Terveer, Tana (Dan) DeShane; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; furbaby - "Snickers"; a sister, Judy Searfoss of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother, John B. Hoover.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maximo. His Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 am with Rev. G. David Weikart as celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Maximo.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, Alliance or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maximo.
