Robert Gwynne's Obituary
Robert P. Gwynne, 92, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 3:30 am at Community Care Center in Alliance, Ohio.
Born on August 8, 1924 in Alliance, Ohio to William Paul and Mary Elizabeth (Watson) Gwynne, he lived in Alliance for all of his life.
A graduate of Alliance High School, he was a veteran of WWII, serving our country in the U.S. Navy on the Destroyer USS Bache.
Robert was previously a member of the First Church of the Brethren and attended Vine Street United Methodist Church.
Robert had previously been employed at Alliance Electric and later retired from Transue & Williams as a Die Sinker after 39 years of service.
He was a member of Alliance Music Study Club, and was an amateur radio operator. He enjoyed electronics, boating, swimming, ice skating, and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kathryn (Penrod) Gwynne, whom he married on June 28, 1947; daughter, Mary Alice Gwynne of Alliance, OH; three sons, Bill R. (Judy) Gwynne of Clinton, OH, John S. (Danielle) Gwynne of Tipp City, OH, Richard Lee (Brenda) Gwynne of Piqua, OH; 5 grandchildren, Preston Gwynne, Addison Gwynne, Shelby Rhodes, Robin Semenchuk, and Kelly Brown; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolores (Paul) Harsh of Alliance, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, William Paul and Mary Elizabeth Gwynne; and a brother, Ronald L. Gwynne.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, and also on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at First Baptist Church.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Rhodes officiating. Burial will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park.
