Robert M. Conner's Obituary
Robert M. Conner, 72, of Sebring, died on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. Born on September 22, 1936 in Maximo, Ohio, Mr. Conner graduated from Louisville High School. He was the pitcher for Louisville s baseball team during high school, and pitched a no hitter in 1954. He was a member of St. Ann s Catholic Church and lived in the area all his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf. After 33 years of service, Bob retired from the American Steel Company, where he worked as a core finisher. He was very involved with the Steelworkers Local Union 2211, serving as President of the local chapter from 1985 to 1988. He will be missed by many but most of all his beloved grandson Big Guy and his Babycakes. Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Collen) Conner, whom he married on March 14, 1987; a brother, Gene (Karen) Conner of Alliance; two daughters, Kimberly Kerns of Hanoverton and Joni Lee (Ed) Akes of Louisville; two sons, Robert Conner, Jr. and Joseph Conner, Sr., both of Alliance; step-daughters Cynthia (Art) Clark of Texas and Melissa (Russell) Gentry of North Canton; step-sons Michael (Donna) Emigh of Salem and Ronald (Kelly) Emigh of Alliance; grandchildren Nicholas, Bobbi Jo, Christopher, Crista, Robert, Joey, Kyle, Brooke, Tiffany, Robbie, Nicki, Katland, Ashley, Danny, Tommy, Andrew, Aaron, Amanda and Bryan; great-grandchildren Kyla, Luke, Jennah, R.J., Xavier, Ethan, Alexcya, Bradyn and Ryleigh. Preceding him in death were his parents, David Samuel and Mary Ann Katherine (Oswalt) Conner; a sister, Theresa Conner; a brother, Roy Conner; and a step-son, Sgt. Keith Bryan Emigh. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, May 31, 2009 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Ann s Catholic Church on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Dyer as celebrant. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
