Robert William Burris Sr.'s Obituary
Robert William Burris, Sr., 84, beloved father and husband went home to be with the Lord at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2010, at Sterling House of Alliance. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on April 21, 1926, Robert moved to the city of Alliance about 60 years ago where he met his wife of 57 years. Robert served in the Navy in World War II, from 1944-1946. He was very proud of his time in the service and of fighting for his country that he loved. He retired from B & W Tube and was a member of First Friends Church. In his past-time, he enjoyed golfing and bowling. A loving father and grandfather, Robert is survived by his four daughters, Gail Pulka of Newtown, PA, Cindy Yoder of N. Olmstead, OH, Terri Pelger of Alliance, OH, and Tami Greenawalt of Alliance, OH, one son, Robert Burris Jr. of Homeworth, OH and fifteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Theresa A. Burris, his parents William and Viola Burris, his brother Charles Burris, and one grandson and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, September 23, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with his son-in-law the Rev. Moses Yoder officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
