Robert E. "Fuzzy" Akins' Obituary
Robert E. "Fuzzy" Akins, 79, of Alliance, died on Wednesday, December 25, 2002, at 12:38 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Alliance on June 22, 1923, he had lived in Alliance all of his life. Mr. Akins was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps and retired in 1978 from B & W Tubular Products as an inspector. He was a member of the American Legion, and the Dante Alighieri Society. He was an umpire with the Amateur Softball Association and a member of the East End Athletic Club and Hot Stove League. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn J. (Brumbaugh) Akins whom he married on June 17, 1947; three daughters, Linda L. Lewis of East Sparta, Mrs. Kim (Beverly J.) Bugh of Canton, and Mrs. Steve (Brenda L.) Oldfield of Alliance; three sons, Robert L and Sharon Akins of Kensington, Larry A. Akins of Alliance, and Randy L. and Christina Akins of Homeworth; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Akins of Alliance. Preceding him in death were his parents, Harry E. and Olive M. (Hall) Akins; two sisters, Helen and Grace Akins; and a brother, Donald Akins. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivo1ocke Funeral Home on Saturday, December 29, 2002, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivo1ocke Funeral Home on Saturday, December 28, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Charles Hahlen, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
