Robert "Abe" Morris' Obituary
Robert J. “Abe” Morris, 68, of Berlin Center, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 4:20 am at his home in Berlin Center, Ohio, with his family at his side.
Born on September 7, 1948 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to Robert F. and Dorothy (Dittoe) Morris, he lived in Alliance, North Benton and Berlin Center for most of his life.
A 1967 graduate of Marlington High School, he served our country in the Viet Nam War in the U.S. Navy and Desert Storm, in the U.S. Air Force.
Abe was employed at American Steel Foundry as a Machinist and retired on January 1, 2002 after 28 years of service.
He enjoyed old cars, model cars, trains and ship building and attending the Canfield Fair. He especially enjoyed The Fringe on stage to help sing songs by CCR and The Fringe original Rock Star Dad (he’s the only guy that remembers the lyrics). He was known in the music community as #1.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Todd) Morris, whom he married on June 28, 1975; son, Samuel (Karolyn) Morris of Boardman, OH; daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Bowser of Alliance; three grandchildren, Serena Fix, Sebastian Morris, Sophia Morris; numerous foster grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Dorothy Morris; a brother, Richard Morris; and a sister, Irene Morris.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, with Pastor Tracy Edwards of Middle Sandy Evangelical Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at West Cemetery in Berlin Center.
