Rita Mae Kozma's Obituary
Rita Mae Kozma, 79, of Alliance, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2005, at home surrounded by her family, after a lengthy illness. Born in Chicago, IL, on June 5, 1925, Rita lived in the Alliance area most of her life. Mrs. Kozma was a member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church. She was secretary/treasurer of the Alliance Women s Bowling Assoc. for several years. Rita was the adjutant for the D.A.V. auxiliary, and was a cook and trustee for the Carnation Senior Retirees. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, knitting, and having her vegetable garden. She is survived by two daughters, Joanne (Robert) Hartzell of Alliance, and Pat (John) Southall of Louisville; grandchildren, Kristen Benedetto, Alicia Southall, Alina Dorto, Debra Chalker, and John Hartzell; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years of marriage, Joseph Kozma on December 21, 2003; and her parents, Frank and Mary (Geiswein) Spies. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Gordon Ruggles officiating. Internment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
