Ricky Lee Barrett, Sr.'s Obituary
Ricky Lee Barrett, Sr., 54, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, February 16, 2009 at 10:45 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. Born on February 17, 1954 in Alliance, Ricky lived in Alliance all of his life and was a 1972 graduate of Marlington High School. Ricky attended the Maranatha Church of God and had attended the Baptist Bible College in Lynchburg, VA in 1973. Mr. Barrett was employed at the Timken Company for the past 12 years as a furnace operator. He was a social member of the Sebring VFW and a former member of the S.A.L. at the American Legion in Sebring. In his past-time, he enjoyed camping with his family, making sausage gravy for breakfast, fishing with his buddy Bob, hunting, playing cards and corn hole, but he disliked playing hillbilly golf and washers. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Lynn (Gloeckner) Barrett; a daughter, Angela (Barrett) Steed of Alliance; two sons, Ricky Barrett, Jr. and Bryan Barrett both of Alliance; six grandchildren; a sister, Marlene (Mitch) (Barrett) Morris of Alliance; a brother, Randy (Pam) Barrett of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were parents, Loren Dwight and Marcella (Vance) Barrett. Funeral services will be held at the Maranatha Church of God, 14289 Edison St. NE, on Thursday, February 19, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeffrey Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Maranatha Church of God. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the nurses in the ICU unit at Alliance Community Hospital for their excellent care and wonderful compassion.
