Richard L. "Pinky" Pinkerton's Obituary
Richard L. "Pinky" Pinkerton, 72, of Briny Breezes, Florida, formerly of Alliance, died on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 6:45 p.m. at Bethesda Hospital in Boynton Beach, Florida. He was born on August 30, 1935 in Alliance, and lived in Alliance most of his life. Richard was a graduate of Alliance High School and a member of their golf team. He is a member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church. He worked at Persky s Groceries elevating himself from stock boy to general manager. In 1967, Mr. Pinkerton began his career as a hairdresser. He later opened the Continental Styling Salon and later opened the first unisex salons in Alliance, known as Super Snips. Richard worked as a hairdresser for 30 years, retiring in 1997, spending his winters in Briny Breezes, Florida. He was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Alliance and the Chislers Club in Briny Breezes, Florida. Richard enjoyed golfing, swimming, bicycling along Old Ocean Drive and simply looking at the ocean. He also loved spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren & great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Schoeni) Pinkerton whom he married on May 8, 1982; a daughter, Mary E. (Dana) Tournoux of Alliance; two sons, Matt (Debbie) Pinkerton and William L. (Renee) Pinkerton both of Alliance; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Pinkerton of Alliance; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, William T. and Mary G. (Hahn) Pinkerton; and a brother, Thomas Pinkerton. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, March 21, 2008 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Hoyt Wilhelm of Union Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
