Richard Miller's Obituary
Richard Miller, 76, of Alliance, died on Saturday, November 27, 2004, at 9:37 p.m. at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. Mr. Miller was born in Alliance on March 31, 1928 and had been a lifelong resident of Alliance. After graduating from Alliance High School in 1946, he entered the U.S. Navy and upon returning, he began employment at the former Lyons Gas Station at the corner of S. Union and Ely. He worked at Alliance Drop Forge for over 30 years and then at Alliance Steel Products. After retiring, he was a driver for the Montrose Auto Group. Mr. Miller was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a 30 year member of the Washington Ruritan Club and was also a longtime member of United Commercial Travelers. He is survived by his wife Cecilia (Jenior) Miller, whom he married on June 4, 1955; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Michelle Miller of Alliance; a son, Richard Miller of Cuyahoga Falls; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Mark Franks of Homeworth; five grandchildren, Jason, Michelle, Samantha, Devin and Michael; a brother, William of Solvang, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Margaret (Brown) Miller. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
