Richard J. Joliet's Obituary
Richard J. "Dick" "Jolly" Joliet, 88, of Alliance, died on Monday, September 12, 2011 in Alliance. He was born on August 7, 1923 in Alliance and lived in Alliance all of his life. A 1942 graduate of Alliance High School, he had been employed at Transue & Williams as a Quality Control Manager and had retired from the Alliance Machine Co. as a Mechanical Engineer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he had served as an Usher and Altar Server for many years. He was also a member of their Funtasticks Senior Group. Mr. Joliet was also a member of the Alliance Senior Center and the Woman s Life Insurance Society. In his past time, he enjoyed working around the house and spending time with family, especially with his grandsons. He is survived by his daughter, Ann M. (Chris) Lopez of Huntington Beach, CA; his son, Richard E. (Terese) Joliet of Alliance; two grandsons, Ryan Joliet and Todd Joliet. Preceding him in death was his wife, Alice M. (Brunner) Joliet on April 10, 2009, whom he married on June 30, 1951; his parents, Edward Joseph and Edith Irene (Babington) Joliet; and two brothers, Paul Joliet and William Joliet. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, September 16, 2011, at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Fr. Matthew M. Mankowski, as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
