Richard L. Hoover Sr.'s Obituary
Richard L. Hoover, 63, of Alliance, died on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 11:55 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born on April 20, 1944 in Alliance, and lived here for all of his life. Mr. Hoover retired from American Steel Foundry, where he was employed for 28 years. He was a life member of the Handy Man s Club and was an avid supporter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1036. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved to go camping and boating. He is survived by a son, Jacob P. (Victoria) Hoover of Alliance; a daughter-in-law, Shelly Hoover of Massillon; five grandchildren, Nickolas, Nathan, Noah, Hannah & Nicole; six sisters, Joanne Burns of Streetsboro, Rosemary (Richard) Wolfgang of Poland, Marlene (William) Monroe of Alliance, Carolyn (Morris) Mercer of Alliance, Audrey (Melvin) Leech of Alliance, and Kathleen Hoover; four brothers, Gerald (Angie) Hoover of Akron, Duane Hoover of Barberton, Jacob Hoover of Alliance, and Steven Hoover; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his son, Richard L. Hoover, Jr.; his parents, Herbert and Irene (Gantz) Hoover; a sister, Linda Edwards; and two brothers, Kenneth Hoover and James H. Hoover. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, January 24, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Rick Sams of Alliance Evangelical Friends Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Massillon.
