Richard E. Deville's Obituary
Richard E. “Dick” Deville, 96, of Louisville, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on September 19, 1920 in Alliance, to Clement L. and Florence C. (Kuntze) Deville, he lived in Alliance most of his life.
Dick graduated from Alliance High School in 1939. He received an Electrical Engineering Degree from Indiana Technical Institute and a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
A veteran of WWII, Dick served our country in the U.S. Merchant Marines.
Dick was employed at B & W Research as manager of the Design Department and retired after 35 years of service.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister, taught CCD, and was an Altar Server at Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
Dick volunteered for Meals on Wheels, was an advocate for the League of Decency and was an adviser for Junior Achievement.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing with four “Hole in Ones”, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his son, Patrick L. (Mary Ann) Deville of Huron; three daughters, Mary Clare (Steven) Wolfman of North Canton, Kathryn A. (Tom) Frank of Louisville and Janet L. Deville of Wooster; seven grandchildren: Erin, Meghan, Chad, Todd, Brian, Patrick and Jared; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 67 years, Margaret E. (McDermott) Deville, whom he married on June 5, 1948 and died on September 11, 2015, his parents, and two brothers, Herbert and Bernard Deville.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 9:45 am - 10:40 am at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church. His Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with Fr. Nicholas Mancini, of Sacred Heart of Mary, as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
