Richard E. Cronin's Obituary
Richard E. Cronin, 81, of Sebring, died on Monday, August 23, 2004, at 10:25 p.m. at Crandall Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on August 12, 1923, he lived in the Youngstown-Liberty Township area from 1957-2000, moving to the Alliance area in October of 2000. Mr. Cronin was a member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church. He was a US Army infantry veteran of World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Mr. Cronin graduated from Youngstown State University in 1954. He retired on October 30, 1990, as Vice President of Manufacturing from Wheatland Tube, where he had worked since 1966. He is survived by his wife, Beverly June (Metcalf) Cronin (whom he married on June 9, 1951); a daughter, Laurie Cronin of Indianapolis, IN; a brother, John Donald Cronin of FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Harriett (Carey) Cronin. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Gordon Ruggles officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
