Richard J. Bossart's Obituary
Richard J. Bossart, 81, of Alliance, died on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 5:20 a.m. at his home. Born on June 22, 1929 in Canton, he lived in Alliance most of his life. He received his education from St. Benedict Grade School and McKinley High School. He retired from Superior Brand Meats in Massillon on Nov. 1, 1984 after 33 years of service. He was also in the Alliance Police Reserves for 21 years. Mr. Bossart was a member of First Immanuel United Church of Christ. He was also a member of Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Vickers Mixed Fellowship Bowling League at the former Parkway Lanes. In his past-time, he enjoyed traveling & camping with his wife and they were members of the Coachmen Weekenders Camping Club. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn (Miller) Detchon Bossart, whom he married on Oct. 6, 1967; a daughter, Charlotte Vega; two granddaughters; a step-daughter, Debbie (Frank) Robertson; a step-granddaughter; two sisters, Norma Reigle of College Hill, OH and Mary (Ed) Piccari of Canton; a brother James (Estella) Bossart of Canton; and a sister-in-law, Minnie "Minn" Bossart of Canton; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Anthony and Anna (Tillitzki) Bossart; two sisters, Victoria "Sis" Brooks and Eileen Babik; and five brothers, Albert, Charles, Bernard, Wilbur and Leonard Bossart. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, November 22, 2010, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Neil Mann of First Immanuel United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
