Richard E. Beamer's Obituary
Richard E. Beamer, 83, of 300 S. 15th Street, Sebring, died on February 28, 2003 at 5:15 p.m. at the Crandall Medical Center. Born in Sherrodsville, Ohio on November 26, 1919, to Mace Beamer and Vesta Marie (Herron) Beamer, he had lived in the Alliance area since 1959. A member of Science Hill Church of Christ and the K of P in Sherrodsville, he was Sheriff of Carroll County for six years, resigning to become Superintendent at the former Fairmount Children's Home. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked as an umpire in the Middle Atlantic Baseball League. Mr. Beamer was also active in the local YMCA and served as a starter at Tannenhauf Golf Course. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mildred I. (Boyd) Beamer whom he married on April 26, 1940; two daughters, Linda R. and husband Tom Thompson, and Dixie S. and husband Richard Warner; a son, Merrill M. Duff' and wife Cathy Beamer all of Alliance; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 5, 2003, from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Barry Stirbins officiating. Burial will take place at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Sherrodsville.
