Rev. Julian B. Huffman's Obituary
Rev. Julian B. “Benny” Huffman, 90, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 10:25 am at Altercare of Alliance.
Born on November 29, 1926 in Alliance, Ohio to Willard R. and Gertrude E. (Meadows) Huffman, he lived in Alliance for all of his life.
Rev. Huffman was a member of Vine Street United Methodist Church. He retired as Pastor of Lexington United Methodist Church. He was a former pastor at Wildare UMC of Cortland, OH; Mt. Zion UMC of Rogers, OH; Charlestown UMC of Ravenna, OH and New Franklin UMC of New Franklin, OH.
A graduate of Alliance High School, he was formerly employed at Taylorcraft, B&W Rush Street Plant and retired from Steel Equipment Specialties as a fitter.
Survivors include daughter, Judith A. (James) Eckenwiler of Alliance, OH; son, Joseph D. (Diane) Huffman of Alliance, OH; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; brother, Robert E. Huffman of Alliance, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Milreda (Burger) Huffman, whom he married on August 3, 1947 and died on June 5, 2004; 1 granddaughter; 1 great-grandson; his parents, Willard R. and Gertrude E. Huffman; four sisters, Frances Elizabeth Beach, Doris G. Huffman, Phyllis V. Smith, and M. Cathelyne Zwick; and two brothers, Willard R. Huffman, Jr., and Rev. Aubrey L. Huffman.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 7, 2017, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home; and also on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the Vine Street United Methodist Church.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00 am, at Vine Street United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael Farmer, Pastor of Vine Street UMC, Rev. John Wolfe, former Pastor of Vine Street UMC and Rev. Jack Ruble, Pastor of the First Church of God, officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Alliance City Cemetery.
