Reuben C. Dean's Obituary
Reuben C. Dean, 92, of Alliance, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and his grandson, Joseph McGowan, on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at 9:50 a.m., at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born on April 8, 1917 in Franklin, PA and lived in Alliance most of his life. He was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. A Veteran of World War II, he served our country in the U. S. Army. Mr. Dean retired from the American Steel Foundry and was a member of the Christopher Columbus Society and the Dante Alighieri Society. In his past time he enjoyed playing cards and loved spending time with his grandchildren and his pet, Tobi. He is survived by a daughter, Judy A. (Robert) McGowan of Alliance; a son, Ronald Joseph (Sue) Dean of Alliance; three grandchildren, DeAnn (Louie) Zavarelli, Beth (Rick) Baltes and Christopher (Sarah) Dean; four great-grandchildren, Joseph and Christian Zavarelli and Owen and Ryan Baltes; a sister, Rose Chroniger of Lanham, MD; two brothers, George Dean of Franklin, PA and Albert Dean of Franklin, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Rose E. (Artaville) Dean on April 6, 2008, whom he married on August 23, 1941; a grandson, Joseph McGowan; his parents, Ruben and Violet (Harkless) Dean; his step mother, Blanche Dean; three sisters, Margaret Dean, Esther Dean and Vera Huart; and three brothers, Arthur Dean, Charles Dean and Roger Dean. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Michael Seifert, officating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
