Rena A. Gatien 's Obituary
Rena A. (Alfani) Gatien, 91, of Alliance, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 4:40 pm at Green Meadows Health & Wellness Center in Louisville, Ohio.
Born on December 17, 1924 in Alliance, Ohio to Eleno and Ada (Menichelli) Alfani, she lived in Alliance for all of her life.
A 1943 graduate of Alliance High School, she was a member of the National Honor Society. She married John B. Gatien, on August 29, 1945.
Rena was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member and Past Treasurer of their Funtastics Senior Group.
Rena had been an office assistant for Dr. Frank Lukez. She enjoyed needlepointing, cooking for others and especially loved her time with family.
Survivors include two sons, Richard (Sue) Gatien of Canton, OH, and J. Michael (Kimberly) Gatien of North Canton, OH; four grandchildren, Michelle (Andrew) Hotchkiss, Christopher Gatien, Sean Gatien, and Matthew Gatien; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, John B. Gatien, who died on October 17, 1998; her parents, Eleno and Ada Alfani; a sister, Vera E. Butler; and a brother, Ronald A. Alfani.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 14, 2016 from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Matthew J. Mankowski, as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
