Raymond J. Schafer 's Obituary
Raymond J. Schafer, 84, of Alliance went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 10:20 am at Community Care Center.
Born on June 6, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Raymond and Lillian (Benzer) Schafer, he lived in Alliance for most of his life.
Raymond was member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and received his education at Alliance High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on July 18, 1950 and served our country during the Korean War, where he received the Navy Occupation Ribbon, European Clasp, National Defense Ribbon, United Nations Ribbon, Korean Service Ribbon and China Service Ribbon.
Raymond was employed at B & W Tubular Products as a Crane Operator and retired after 30 years of service. In his leisure, he loved walking his dogs.
Survivors include a brother, Bruce (Darlene) Schafer of Alliance; two nephews, Ty (Jana) Tolerton & Jon (Peg) Tolerton; two nieces, Susan (Michael) Cramer & Lisa (Ron) Rider; and several great nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Raymond and Lillian Schafer; a sister, Marianne (Howard) Tolerton; and a nephew, Todd Schafer.
The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. His Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am, with Fr. Robert Pfeiffer officiating. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Park.
