Ralph J. "Bugs" Miller's Obituary
Ralph J. "Bugs" Miller, 76, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at 4:00 p.m. in the emergency room at Alliance Community Hospital. Ralph was born on August 4, 1930, in Meadville, PA, and lived in Alliance most of his life. He was a U. S. Army veteran during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Mr. Miller and retired from B & W Tubular Products after 32 years of service as a welder. Ralph was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2174. He enjoyed playing cards, putting puzzles together, gardening and flowers. He loved all types of animals, especially cats. Ralph is survived by his wife of 26 years, Martha Jane (Arkenburg) Miller; three daughters, Peggy Jackson of Columbia, SC, Barbara Miller of Columbia, SC, and Lynette Patterson of Sebring; two sons, Shawn Miller of Atlanta, GA, and Earl (Tana) Long of Alliance; three step-daughters, Bonnie Hoehn of Berea, KY, Kathy Lyell of Poseyville, IN, and Karen Orlando of Mesa, AZ; two step-sons, Steve (Phyllis) Jackson of Columbia, SC, and Larry Long of Evansville, IN; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Lou Umberger of Guysmills, PA; one brother, Bob Miller of Sebring; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph J. and Edith (Cline) Miller; two sisters, Jean Noel and Mae Maloney; and a brother, Jerry Miller. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2007 from 12:00 Noon - 1:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Randy Payne, Pastor of Alliance Baptist Temple, officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
