Ralph Conrad 's Obituary
Ralph Lloyd Conrad, 81, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2015 after a sudden heart attack in Vero Beach, Fl.
Ralph was born on November 17, 1934 to Lloyd Russell and Dorothy Maxine (Koerner) Conrad at home in Alliance.
He served as an Airman in the U.S. Air Force, 1953–1956. His most memorable assignment was Anderson AFB on Guam where they were still dealing with Japanese servicemen who were in hiding and did not know or believe that WWII was over.
Ralph worked at Gem Clay in Sebring for several years after leaving the Air Force and retired from Lordstown General Motors after 30 years of service.
He enjoyed cars, trains, gardening, traveling, camping, back yard bird watching, dancing, walking along the beach and visiting family.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Betty Jane (Knisely) Penny Conrad, whom he married on June 8, 1996; his brother Donald E. Conrad of Alliance; and his sister Doreen K. Chiles of Orlando, Fl.; his step-son Thomas A. Penny of Vero Beach, Fl; and his step-daughter Karen (David) Mylar of Alliance; two nephews, Ralph V. Chiles of Atlanta, Ga. and Athanasios L. Conrad of Homeworth; four nieces, Dorothy J. Chiles of Orlando, Fl.; Persa L. (Scott) Gillespie of Valencia, Ca., Georgia D. (Steve) Bench of Alliance, and Dina K. Conrad-Covert of Salem; five grandnephews, Christopher J. Chiles (Jerrica Palen), Jacob L. Chiles, Hayes D. Covert, Stephen Meeks, and Donavin Conrad; five grandnieces, Rachel E. Chiles, Kerstin J. Covert, Paighton E. Covert, Alexandria S. Gillespie, and Lia N. Bench; two great-nephews, Joseph A. Rosenbaum nee Chiles and Kole J. Offill; and 3 great-nieces, Kristen N. Towe, Alaina J. Offill, and Annabella J. Palen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Janet (Mrusek) Conrad whom he married on Aug 22, 1958; step-son Kenneth Penny; great-nephew Kristof Lee Palen; and brother-in-law Virgil P. Chiles.
The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, December 3, 2015, from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. His Memorial Service will begin at 6:00 p.m., with Rev. Robert Miller, Pastor of Beechwood United Methodist Church officiating. Entombment, will take place at Highland Memorial Park at a later date.
