Phil Waitley's Obituary
Phil Waitley, 76, of Alliance, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 11:24 pm at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital.
Born on September 9, 1945, in Alliance, to Anthony and Margaret (St. George) Waitley, he lived in Alliance all of his life.
A 1963 graduate of Marlington High School, he also attended Kent State University.
Phil attended First United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Waitley was a journalist at The Alliance Review for 31 years. He also worked at DeHoff's Greenhouse and Akron Canton Airport Shuttle Services.
He was a member of Alliance Democratic Club.
Phil enjoyed gardening, writing and working on his two blogs "Aged Neophyte" and "Peaceful Paladin". He loved watching Nash Bridges, MASH and Star Trek, driving around in his 1994 Chrysler Le Baron convertible, and especially loved attending family gatherings.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" (Thrash) Waitley, whom he married on October 25, 1969; his daughter, Lissa Waitley of Brecksville; his son, Andy Waitley of Alliance; a brother-in-law, Tom Thrash; and a cousin, Tom St. George.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Tonya Cox.
His Memorial Service will be held on October 15, 2022 at 11:00 am at the First United Presbyterian Church.
