Pearl Popa's Obituary
Pearl Popa, 88, of Alliance, died on Thursday, April 29, 2010, at 12:45 p.m. at Altercare of Alliance. Born on September 27, 1921 in Sturgeon, PA, she lived in Alliance most of her life and was a graduate of Alliance High School. Pearl was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Roma Club and the Dante Alighieri Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her two daughters, Joanne (Bill) Di Donato of Alliance and Deanna (David) Weyand of Alliance; a son, John (Arlyis) Popa, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Don Popa, Michelle (Larry) Grove, Matt Popa, Tony (Susie) Di Donato, Tom (Christine) Di Donato, Jared (Isabel) Weyand, Jeff Weyand and Rachel Weyand; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband, John Popa, Sr. in 1984, whom she married on August 22, 1942; a son, Stephen Popa; and her parents, Walter and Amelia (Weber) Dimitroff. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, May 3, 2010 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, May 3, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph A. Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Alliance City Cemetery.
