Paul A. Schlabig's Obituary
Paul A. Schlabig, 70, of Alliance, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at 3:10 p.m. at his home after a two-year battle with cancer. Born on June 30, 1938 in Akron, Ohio, he attended Hoban High School in Akron, and lived in Alliance for the past 25 years. A U. S. Navy veteran, he retired from Sancap Liner as a Production Supervisor. In his past-time, he enjoyed woodworking and time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Ruth M. "Dolly" (Rohr) Schlabig, whom he married on June 28, 2003; two daughters, Lorie (Wayne) Shockey of Hudson, OH and Jill (Ray) Williams of VA; a son, Michael Schlabig of Ellet, OH; step-children, Stephanie Baddeley of NC, Joy (Mike) Muniz of Alliance, Angela (Mike) Frank of NC, Tiffany (Brigman) Bailey of NC, Angelina (Shawn) Brown of TN; Christopher (Amanda) Rohr of Alliance, Daniel (Jane) Rohr of Alliance, Robert (Susan) Rohr of Alliance, Nick Rohr of Alliance, and SGT Michael Rohr of KS; 24 grandchildren; a sister, Pat (John) St. George of Akron, OH; two brothers, Bob (Carol) Schlabig of Fairlawn, OH, and Gary (Judy) Schalbig of GA; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Paul and Alice (Ionton) Schlabig; and one nephew. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht, as celebrant. Military honors will be provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036. There will be no calling hours.
