Paul "Papa" Osco's Obituary
Paul "Papa" Osco, 83, of Alliance, died on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at 3:55 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. Born on June 8, 1927 in Atwater, where he was raised, Paul lived in Alliance most of his life. He was very proud to serve his country in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict from 1945 - 1952, where he received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained. He was a Tech Sergeant. Mr. Osco was formerly employed at the Ravenna Arsenal and retired as foreman from Transue and Williams Forging after many years of service. He was a Life Member of the D.A.V. Chapter 50, the V.F.W. Post 1036, and the BPO Elks #467. Paul enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City and also enjoyed planting flower gardens; for which he received an award from the Keep Alliance Beautiful Program. He will be tremendously missed by his family. He is survived by daughters, Sandra Mann of Alliance, Paula Fultz of Alliance, and Ruth Anne Montgomery of Ravenna; four grandchildren, Kenn (Kati) Mann, Phillip (Gazel) Fultz, Justin (Chasity) Fultz and Fallon (Dan) Miller; a great-granddaughter, Keely and a great-grandchild on the way; a sister, Mary DeLuca of Akron; two brothers, Frank Osco of Atwater and Daniel Osco of Alliance; several nieces and nephews; and his granddogs, Dino, Bugsy and Tonka will especially miss him Preceding him in death was his wife, Mary Ellen (Favazzo) Osco on June 25, 2006, whom he married on February 20, 1954; his parents, Daniel and Elizabeth (Cuifo) Osco; a sister, Annie Clark; and five brothers, Joseph, John, Peter, Victor, and William Osco. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Peters officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corps, the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
