Paul Karnofel's Obituary
Paul Karnofel, 82, of Alliance died on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 1:25 a.m. at Aultman Hospital. He was born on July 16, 1926 in Salem, and lived in Alliance most of his life. A graduate of Salem High School, Paul was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. Paul retired from Interstate Motor Freight Systems, where he was employed as a driver and handling operations within the trucking industry. Mr. Karnofel enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and driving for pleasure. Paul is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" (Snyder) Karnofel whom he married on June 27, 1970; two daughters, Paulette (Larry) Herderick of Alliance and LuAnne Fields of Columbus; a son, Gary J. (Janet) Karnofel of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Bryan, Matthew, Tina, Tammy (Kris), Tess, and Chris; six great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Ryan, Brooke, Morgan, Ethan and Josie; a brother, George Karnofel of Mineral Ridge; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Mike and Mary (Glazzy) Karnofel; two sisters, Helen Karnofel and Ann Solomon; and six brothers, Steve, John, Pete, Mike, Louie and Dan Karnofel. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, July 24, 2008 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, July 25, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Msgr. Kolp, as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
