Olive M. Francis' Obituary
Olive M. Francis, 93, of Alliance, died on Saturday, June 7, 2003, at 8:33 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. Born in Orville on May 27, 1910, she graduated from Alliance High School, attended Mount Union College for the Civil Air Patrol, and retired from Alliance Manufacturing. She was a member of the First Christian Church, an honorary life member of the American Legion Post 166 Auxiliary, the 8 & 40 American Legion Auxiliary, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 50. Mrs. Francis also held memberships with the Alliance Shrine Ladies, the Kadish Court of Akron, the Women's Elks Auxiliary, the Alliance YMCA Swimnastics, the Alliance Senior Citizens Center and their Line Dancers. She loved to swim and dance and especially enjoyed line dancing at the area nursing homes. She is survived by her husband, Louis M. Francis, whom she married in June of 1958; her daughter, Shirley (John) Williams of Hawthorne, CA; a granddaughter and her husband, Danita Carsey and Rick Brest of Alliance; two sisters, Byrde Addams of Alliance and Elizabeth Daugherty of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Fuchs Sr.; her mother, Sarah West Fuchs Cooper; a sister, Eva Greenfield; and two brothers, Samuel Fuchs Jr. and Irvin Fuchs. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Craig Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park with a special tribute on the bagpipes by Holly Hays.
