Olive Cecelia Babcock's Obituary
Olive Cecelia Babcock, 101, formerly of Alliance, passed away, Friday, January 30, 2004 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Born on July 27, 1902 in Alliance, to Frank and Iva (King) McGrath, she grew up and attended schools in Alliance and had worked at Spring Holzworth and Alliance Dry Cleaning Company. Olive married Lawrence Bab Babcock on July 20,1927. They resided on West Cambridge Street in Alliance for over 50 years, moving to Sandpoint last year to be closer to family. A member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and later, Regina Coeli Catholic Church, she was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed family fishing trips to Canada, her pet dogs, embroidery, and later in life, corresponding with friends and family all across the country. She is survived by her three granddaughters, Linda (Terence) MacAfee of Sandpoint, IL, Debbie (Jim) Barnes of Minden, NY, and Valerie (Doug) Dutcher of Norton, MA; one grandson, Bill (Lani) McDonald of Grants Pass, OR; six great-grandchildren, Jason Macek, Katelin MacAfee, Michael Barnes, Allison Dutcher, Julia Maggio, and Jake MacDonald; a nephew, Robert McGrath; and two nieces, Nancy Zeak and Janice Malady; and a daughter-in-law, Jean Babcock. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Babcock; a son Bruce Babcock; her parents; a brother Garland McGrath; and a grandson Scott Babcock. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, February 10,2004 at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint, Idaho with Fr. Dennis C. Day, officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Friday, February 13,2004 at 10:00 am, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Seifert as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Local arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
