Norman Blake's Obituary
Norman Ray Blake, 86, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at 1:10 a.m. at Roselawn Terrace. He was born on June 21, 1923 in Cameron, WV, and moved to Alliance after serving in the Army during the Invasion of Normandy. Norman was awarded the E.A.M.E. Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Blake retired from Transue & Williams, after 20 years of service, where he was employed as an inspector. In his past-time, he enjoyed building things. Norman is survived by his wife, Betty Jane (Girard) Blake whom he married on March 17, 1948; a son, Randal (Rebecca) Blake; three grandchildren, Adam, Colton and Kylee; four sisters, Kate Nolan of N. Canton, Mary Vogal of Massillon, Geneva McClure of Alliance and Barbara Blake of TX; two brothers, Allen Blake of Sebring and Richard Blake of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Harry and Nellie Blake; a sister-in-law, Helen Irene Severs; and two brothers, Walter and Verney Blake. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, July 17, 2009 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, July 17, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. with Brad Risley of Alliance Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Union Cemetery.
