Nora Donohoe's Obituary
Nora Donohoe, 89, of Alliance, died on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. at her daughter s home. Born on April 6, 1920 in Wayland, KY to the late Ballard and Sara (Sparkman) Collins, she lived in Alliance most of her life. Nora attended Decatur High School in Ironton and during WWII she was employed at Taylor Craft. She retired from Alliance Manufacturing, where she was employed as an assembly line worker after over 30 years of service. She attended First Baptist Church. Mrs. Donohoe was a former member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary, the Dante Alighieri Ladies Society, the Christopher Columbus Ladies Society and the Alliance Manufacturing Retirees Club. She was a current member of the Alliance Senior Citizen Center, AARP and Dr. Roach s Outdoor League. In her past-time, she had enjoyed bowling, reading, shopping and making quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband on many trips. She especially enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Nora is survived by her husband of 44 years, James F. Donohoe whom she married on January 8, 1966; two daughters, Peggy (Aldridge) Felton of Alliance and Mary (DeGenio) Stout of Coldwater, MI; eleven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and cousins. Preceding her in death was a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Judy Aldridge; a son-in-law, Rev. Roger Felton, Sr.; her parents; six sisters, Ellen Waugh, Virdie Bradley, Madge Swank, Dorothy Addis, Nancy Cracium and Neice Dean; four brothers, Homer, Norvin, Ellis and Martin Collins; and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Gordon Thomas officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
