Nancy M. Koch's Obituary
Nancy M. Koch, 58 of Alliance, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at 12:35 p.m., at Aultman Hospital after a nine year courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Born on September 29, 1951 in Alliance, she lived in Alliance all of her life and was a 1969 graduate of Alliance High School. Mrs. Koch retired as assistant manager at United Bank after 20 years of service. After retirement, she enjoyed creating and making specialized embroidered sweatshirts which she sold at many area craft shows. She and her husband recently became members of Community Bible Church. She was also a member of Oye Vey, the Knit-Wit Shopping Club and several card clubs. Nancy was a caring and giving person, always baking or sewing for others. She was an inspiration to many throughout her life and especially during her illness, always putting others before herself. She enjoyed going to Topsail Beach and Bonita Springs. She also enjoyed sewing, shopping and making jewelry and gifts for others. She loved to go camping with her loving and devoted husband, going out to eat with their devoted friends and she especially loved spending time with her nephew, Sean. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Edward C. Koch whom she married on September 29, 1973; two sisters, Ginny Curran of Canton and Carol-Ann Cowen of Akron; and three nephews, Rick and Chris Haidet and Sean Curran. Preceding her in death was her father, the late Alliance police chief, Donald E. Cowen and her mother, Doris (Middleton) Cowen. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, January 24, 2010 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Community Bible Church on Monday, January 25, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Rod Doran of Community Bible Church officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
