Myrtle M. "Grandma Moo" Ward's Obituary
Myrtle M. "Grandma Moo" Ward, 82, of Alliance, died on Sunday, October 19, 2008, at 9:00 p.m. at Bel Air Senior Living Community of Alliance. She was born on March 5, 1926 in Alliance, to William & Margaret (Twaddle) Rawson. She was also raised by Charles and Edith Holzer, her uncle and aunt. Myrtle was a June 1943 graduate of Alliance High School. She was employed as a cook for many years at the Phi Kappa Tau house at Mount Union College and retired from Alliance Community Hospital, where she was a ward secretary on the 3rd floor. Mrs. Ward was very well known for her baking, sewing and many crafts that she made for her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Myrtle is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lesley (Keith) Brendlinger of Alliance; a son, Jan E. Ward of Alliance; two granddaughters, Jenny (John) Capretta III of Alliance and Jody Brendlinger of Alliance; two grandsons, Brian (Karen) Ward of Alliance and Braddley Ward of Alliance; eight great-grandchildren, Brittani, Brooke and Johnny Capretta, Tyler and Alyssa Risden, Emily and Caleb Ward and Kyla Ward; two half-brothers, George Rawson and Philip Rawson both of WV; a half-sister, Madelyn Moncrief of WV; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack and Pauline Ward of Alliance and Robert and Marilyn Allcorn of MN. Preceding her in death was her husband Edward L. Ward, Jr. in 1979; her parents; aunt and uncle; and a half-brother, William Rawson. The family would like to give special thanks to all of the staff at Bel Air Senior Living Community and also to Hospice for taking care of their mother for several years. A Memorial service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park on Friday, October 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Sams of Alliance Evangelical Friends Church officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
