Mildred Hoopes' Obituary
Mildred Hoopes, 87, formerly of Alliance, died on Thursday, January 9, 2003, in Wichita, Kansas, where she had recently moved. A lifelong member of the First Christian Church, she was born in Alliance on February 6, 1915, and graduated from Alliance High School. Mrs. Hoopes was an extensive reader, naturalist, cat lover, and also enjoyed feeding the birds. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sandra Hoopes of Wichita, KS and Richard and Susan Hoopes of Chagrin Falls; granddaughter, Heather Matthews of Columbia, SC; sister, Marjorie Jennings of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, E. Edward Hoopes on June 13, 1990; and her parents, Victor Cress and Flora Cress Porter. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, January 13, 2003, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Craig Jones and Sue DeHoff of First Christian Church, co-officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
