Michael J. New, Jr.'s Obituary
Michael J. New, Jr., 89, of Sebring, died on Friday, January 15, 2010, at 12:56 a.m. at Crandall Medical Center. He was born on January 28, 1920 in Akron, Ohio, and had lived in Beloit for the past 18 years. Mr. New served in the U. S. Army during both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He also served in the Army National Guard and among many medals had received the Purple Heart. Michael was a member of the Sebring American Legion and had retired from B.F. Goodrich where he worked as National Automotive Service Supervisor. He enjoyed hunting, boating, and spending time with friends and family. He was known to be a great dancer and a musician, having played bass violin in his father s orchestra. He is survived by his wife, Jane L. (Boldzsar) New whom he married on December 9, 1944; daughters, Lorraine (Barbara Eless) New of Pasadena, CA, Stacey (Robert Arnold) New of Bennington, VT; sons, Michael J. (Colleen) New, III of Huron, OH, Gregory (Fran) New of Beloit, OH, Robert (George Glander) New of Pasadena, CA; six grandchildren, Andrew, Michael J.,III, Charles, Julia, Molly and Dena; a sister, Irene Conner of North Canton, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Michael J. and Mary (Nagy) New, Sr. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, January 17, 2010 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Rod Doran of Westville Community Bible Church officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will take place at Marlboro Cemetery.
