Michael Korosy's Obituary
Michael Korosy, Sr., 86, of 299 W. Main St., Alliance, died at his home on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 10:15 p.m. Born in Alliance on September 29, 1916, he had been a lifetime resident of our city. He was a graduate of Alliance High School, where he was active in the Drama Club and had attended Ohio State University. He was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. Mr. Korosy was a grocer all of his life. He was first involved in the family business Korosy Brothers Traveling Market and had been the owner of Korosy's Komer on West Main St. since 1958. A veteran of World War II, he had served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps, stationed in China and India. He was a life member of both the VFW and the DA V. He was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing the violin. He was also a member of the William Penn Fraternal Assoc., Alliance Branch #189, where he had formerly served on the board of directors. He is survived by his wife, Etta (Zambron) Korosy of 61 years, whom he married on February 11, 1942; his children, Marie & Ken Zurburgg of Sebring, Michael Korosy, Jr., of the home, William & Lisa Korosy of Alliance, and Barbara & Jim Giordano of Alliance; 13 grandchildren; 5 great- grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Busacca of Melbourne, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah (Olojos) Korosy; a sister, Beatrice Keeler; and three brothers, Stephen, Joseph and John Korosy. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling- Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. J. Patrick Manning as celebrant. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
