Michael P. Duruttya, Jr.'s Obituary
Michael P. Duruttya, Jr., 92, of Alliance, died on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 1:05 a.m. at Altercare of Alliance. He was born on November 8, 1915 in Johnston, PA, graduating from Ferrall High School, and lived in Alliance since 1938. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Duruttya was a member and an usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Michael retired from the Morgan Engineering Company, where he was employed as a welder for over 37 years. He was a former President and Manager of the William Penn Club, Branch 189, a Scout Master for St. Joseph Scout Club, and was a Manager of the St. Joseph Hot Stove Baseball Team which won two H-League State Titles. Michael played the bass fiddle with several groups in the area and had also shared the stage with his son, Pug. He was an avid supporter of Jimmy and the Soul Blazers. Survivors include his daughter, Michalene (Freddie) Scott of Alliance; a son, Michael P. Pug (Jody) Duruttya, III of Alliance; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Marie (Tosha) Duruttya on May 11, 2007, whom he married on August 20, 1938; an infant daughter, Miriam Duruttya; a son-in-law, Gene Paul Warne; his parents, Michael, Sr. and Rose (Martine) Duruttya; two sisters, Margaret Korosy and Elizabeth Katona; and two brothers, Edward and John Duruttya. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, March 8, 2008 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
